MAUMEE, Ohio, Nov. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- The Andersons, Inc. (Nasdaq: ANDE) announced today that its subsidiary, The Andersons Ag Software, Inc., and Cargill, Inc., Minneapolis, MN, have entered into a three-year licensing agreement for use of The Andersons' Crop Revenue Profiler(TM) software program. The agreement complements previously announced licensing agreements between The Andersons Ag Software and American Agrisurance, Inc., the crop insurance marketing subsidiary of Acceptance Insurance Companies, Inc. (NYSE: AIF), and Utterback Marketing Services, Inc.
Under the terms of the new agreement, Cargill AgHorizons Farm Service Groups will work with American Agrisurance agents who have a sublicense to use the Crop Revenue Profiler program. Cargill AgHorizons will offer the analysis program to customers as an additional marketing service and risk management tool.
The Crop Revenue Profiler software program was developed by The Andersons to help farmers make the increasingly complex decisions that are required to run a successful business. The program provides a multi-page, detailed analysis of up to 209 different price/yield outcomes based on combinations of marketing plans and six different crop insurance policy types. Farmers enter individual variables including number of acres, production history, cost of production, and government subsidies to see a series of three-dimensional graphs showing how the varying prices and yields affect profitability.
"This software will allow us to provide more farm-specific analysis tools to our customers," said Dan Dye, president of Cargill AgHorizons. "Our customers are telling us they want solutions to help make the myriad of decisions they must make. This program can provide that assistance."
Mike Anderson, president and chief executive officer of The Andersons, said, "This program allows farmers to see the impact of a crop marketing decision before they make it. The fees generated by this agreement will have a positive impact on our earnings in 2001 and beyond."
Anderson pointed out that "The Andersons and Cargill have a history of working together for the betterment of our customers, and this agreement is another step in a positive direction for grain producers."
The Andersons is moving aggressively into the use of new technologies to enhance its traditional services to customers. Last week the company announced it has become an investor in Rooster.com(SM), agriculture's leading e-business network.
